Greetings!
I recently stripped my deck of an acryllic, semi-transparent stain, made by Pittsburgh paint. It failed miserably after 2 years. I didn't want to use this product, but was talked into it by the paint store people. (Bad mistake).
After much farting around, I eventually used a hardwood floor sander and edger to strip the deck. The wood is pressure treated. I live in Toronto, Canada, so lots of climate exposure. The deck gets full sun in afternoon.
I want to apply a penetrating oil and never want to have to strip the deck again, just reapplications. The color of lattice, fence, railings etc. around my property is deep Charcoal Grey. The penetrating oils I have looked at are not dark enough.
So any advice on the following questions would be great:
1. Would it be advised to apply a stain of a color I like, then apply a clear penetrating stain such as Cabot's.
2. Has anyone ever heard of a company/product called Superdeck. (Duckback Products Inc. A Katy Company) I believe they are out of California. They manufacture exterior transparent stain. Is this product any good?
Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to respond.
