I have recently refinished a coffee table. It was first sanded down to bare wood, then a semi-gloss latex applied in two coats about 3 weeks ago. It is still somewhat tacky. Everything sticks to it, and napkins become part of the surface! Any suggestions on how to correct the problem? I am hoping to do the same technique to a bench, but not before I find out how to prevent the same problems. Thanks.

What has the humidity been like where the table is? If the paint film was brushed on i a thick coat it could take a very long time to fully harden. I wold not use latex on a table top, except for a 100% acrylic gloss. Alkyd (oil) enamel paints form a harder film than latex.
