I recently replaced my front door wood threshold. I now notice it has a few black areas going across (with the grain). Is this a form of mold?. Has water gotten into the wood?. The replacement wood is oak. When I installed it, I did stain and polyurethane it. Didn't use any varnish.
To correct this, should I first sand it, then use sometype of solution to remove the black areas (bleach)?. What should I use to prime it, then finish it?.
