Howdy!
First, I apologize if this repair question might be off topic here in the build forum and if the post would be better of in a different forum, feel free to relocate it as required.
I have a request from an older gentleman who performs contract maintenance work for a condo association. He has been unable to locate (on the internet) very much information on some windows that need repairs. He asked me if I could locate some replacement parts for these crank out windows. He provided me with a sticker from a window, and I'd love to post what I scanned, but the sticker is metallic and the scans are quite illegible until they are scanned at very high resolutions... too big to post!
The majority of the information I can find is:
I believe the manufacturer name is AB Elementhus;
I believe the manufacturers city is Mockfjards Sweden.
The gentleman also made some notes: "1/87"
Maybe that is the date of manufacture?
and "ost landske elerum 1/87" which I have no clue about.
The only thing he needs is the plastic slides which are over the ends of flat stock guide bars because some have broken, and without the parts, the windows fail to close tightly.
Would there be any benefit to visiting local glass companies, or maybe someone has a contact for the company, provided the company still exists, etc.

When you say "crank out windows", are you talking 'jalousies' -- the ones with horizontal slats (panes of glass) about 3-1/2" tall that open in unison when you crank them? Or are you talking about awning windows? -- one pane of glass, the bottom swings out and up when you crank it. Or casements? The single pane hinges on one side and swings out when you crank them.
One on-line source that comes to mind would be:
www.swisco.com.
They claim to have 'hard-to-find' window and door parts.

Hey, thanks for the reply.
The windows were described as single pane, so I am assuming awning type. I'll double check with him shortly.
Umm, hold that thought: http://www.centralwindow.com/repair~1.htm makes me think these are casement type.
I believe that the swisco site is exactly the kind of site that will solve this problem. I will attempt a google search for similar sites.
I take it you've never heard of a swedish company from the late 1980s going by the name of "AB Elementhus"? I have a funny feeling that they have been acquired by some bigger name, possible Velux or the like.

I'll bump this up just once; both the other guy and myself are still seeking to resolve the problem, but we are willing to admit defeat at this point. I found nothing by way of exact replacement parts, neither has my partner... anyone know what became of a 1980s window maker called AB Elementhus, in Mockfjards Sweden?
