Hi,
I have a bi-fold closet door and the lower hinge is screwed into the door frame, not the floor.
Now I have installed a laminate floorand the hinge has to be moved about 3/8" higher. The position of some of the new screw holes are about 1/8 of an inch from the old holes. My plan is to fill in the old holes with wood putty and just install the hinge. Will the wood putty provide enough support so that the wood between the old and new hole will not collapse when I install the new screw?
Thanks.

A couple of ways to do this:
hammer in some wood slivers which are coated with glue...
or
use a wood filler such as Elmers carpenter's interior wood filler which has on it's label "holds screws and nail"
pre-drill for both methods...
