I'd like to lay 1' porcelain tiles over a 5' x 3' section of hardwood flooring just inside my front door that enters into the living room. I will glue and fasten 1/4" Hardibacker on the floor and then install the tiles. Any suggestions, warnings, etc. before I go ahead? Thanks.

Hi Bill,

It might work, but you'd be going against the specs of the backer board manufacturer. I don't know of any who go along with hardwood flooring as a sub for their product. I would pull up the hardwood.
