My husband and are are removing ceramic tile. Tile is up but the thin-set is proving tough to remove. After an hour and a half working with a removal tool and hammer/chisel I did some calling around and was told that Muranic (spelling?) acid might assist in loosening the thin-set. Any truth to this?

My arms are killing me!

I would not recommend muriatic. Get as much as you can up, making sure you remove all the very high spots, and then install your new tiles over the top.

We're actually putting in wood floors in that area. You were right though, the MURIATIC acid did not help at all. It took about 8 hours of labor but we did get the major ridges removed. Wish us luck!
