Walls and Ceilings - Update on Texture ceiling repair and more ?'s.

(Ref: Previous post 1 Aug 03) We rented a hopper and sprayed our ceiling patch yesterday and we are very pleased with the outcome. We surprised ourselves and were very apprehensive after reading some other posts. Except for two very small areas that we probably should have built up a little more, the repair job looks almost professional. Our next question is painting. We planned on repainting the entire ceiling with a roller but the new texture seems so fragile that we are not sure that is the correct technique. We have repainted other ceilings in our home with the roller and they turned out fine. We used Zinzer123 prior to texturing.

The next hurdle we have is matching the texture on the walls. We now have what we thought was "orangepeel" texture on one wall and just painted smooth drywall on the other. We now wonder if what we have is "knockdown" It's hard to describe and certainly looks like an orange peel! Now that we have removed the wall between the two rooms we need to somehow match the textures. Your help in these areas is greatly appreciated.

We spray finish paint for textured lids/walls, rollers will usually knock off some of the texture & doesn't always give you as nice a finish result.

As to matching your wall texture, my best suggestion would be to use a scrap piece of drywall, or even a scrap of plywood/osb/chipboard will do, but just take some practice attempt on that until you get something as close to your other wall as possible, then use that technique on the actual wall. If you can post a link to a picture of what you're trying to match, that might help us give you a better idea of the type of finish you have there.
