Hi All,
My old house has a 30+ year old American Standard natural gas fired boiler with cast iron sections. The boiler has a standing pilot, and has no damper on the stack vent. So far the boiler has worked great, with only the usual seasonal maintenance needed (oil pump, clean the burners, check pressure relief valve, expansion tank, etc.), which I do religiously every year.
My questions:
1- How long should I expect this boiler to last?
2- Would I save a lot of $ with a newer high efficiency boiler?
3- Any recommendations on brands, or any to avoid?
Thanks for any input!

Andrew:
I'm not a boiler expert but it would be usefull to have more detail.
House size, insulation, min temps, annual heating bills, etc would be usefull.
