I rent a house with a 25' long wall with hideous wallpaper that I can't remove. Is there any kind of simple wallcovering solutions that I can do myself that will not damage the existing wallpaper? I'm interested in a fabric/suede wallcovering.

No, if you wallpaper over the existing wallpaper there is no guarantee that the bottom layer of wallpaper won't suffer damage with the top's removal.

just an idea get wall paper and tack it down in all corners with tacks or staples and put a few down the side. mayber overlap a bit to hipe staples or use fabic the same way. I put a piece of mateial on the backing of my sons book shelf where he had done a coloring creation it turned out great and it matches the Bob the Builder theme we already have going on. another idea is to make that wall the wall of picuters get some of the multi picture frames get lots of pictures past and present and hang them all over or other kinds of pictures use your imagination. I also in my hall way where I no light took my christmas light (they come in a net and also come in all white and hung them right on the wall and it looks like art I have gotten so many comments (good ones) about it I was just trying to light my way not be trendy but it worked for both. good luck

Hi,
Had a problem something like you have. I had a wall in my house that has vinyl wallpaper on it an I didn't want to mess with taking it off. Too much work for me..... anyway I went to Walmart and found some fabric on their markdown table [$1 a yard] and made some simple wall panels that went from ceiling to floor. You can make them a few inches longer so they "puddle" on the floor. Sewed a pocket for a rod to go thru on one end and finished the other end. Put some curtian rods on the wall and hung the panels like curtians. Have enough brackets to support the fabric, not just on the ends of the rods. My wall is about 12 foot long and I put up 2 rods with supports in the middle of each rod. Added some silk type ivy vines from the top to make it look like it was growing down the wall. Have gotten alot of comments on how good it looked.
Hope this gives you another idea on how to deal with your problem.
