Is there a solution I can spray on the ceiling to help the scraping process move faster? Thanks for your time and advice!

Use a Windex-type spray bottle and plain water.
Spray on just enough to wet the texture so that it can easily be scraped off with a drywall blade.
Experiment in an area that does not have a seam until you get it down.
Good Luck!

I would use a garden sprayer. A windex bottle does not hold very much when a ceiliong needs to be stripped. A little detergent will help the water penetrate better. Be ready for the mess. Two layers of plastic sheeting (5-10 mil) will minimize the leak through. Murphy's law says a single layer will always leaks.
