My central air conditioning is forming lots of condensation around the furnace unit in my basement. Is there anything I can do to reduce the condensation? The moisture is forming a large poodle under my basement stairs.

clear the drain, it may be stopped up. does the a/c drain into a pump? it may be clogged or possibly bad. do you notice any icing on the indoor coil or large copper line? need more info...

If it truely is condensation, insulate the guilty surface that is sweating. The rare extreme high humidity problems your seeing is due to it's persistantcy for the last few weeks raining every day for two weeks and the heavy overcast in between doesn't help matters much...Everyone is seeing this. Check to see if you have air leaks in the duct joints. Make sure you have a clean air filter. If you have one of those portable dehumidifiers run it with the AC. Mine adds a little heat to the room but the AC brings the temp down much easier with a low RH...;)
