Hi-

I have a one bedroom condo that I am trying to "pretty up" for sale. The ceiling and walls are drywall.

1) The ceiling has a "popcorn" type texture. There is some small areas that are starting to peel (6" x 6" is the largest area). I want to repair the peel so that it blends in with the rest of the ceiling. What is the best way to do this? I saw in one of the Handyman magazines sold on this site that there is a canned spray-on paint that will do spray on a popcorn texture? Is that stuff any good?

2) In one of the corners of my living room, there is a vertical crack that appears and reappears floor to ceiling. I've spackled, painted, and re-spackled and re-painted, but it just keeps coming back, reappearing every few months or so. I assume it's due to the flexing of the hi-rise building and general temperature changes. Is there anything I can do to repair this crack and keep it from reappearing?

Thanks,
Steve

If you tape and mud the crack it will stay gone unless this is a structural problem.

Prime the ceiling where the popcorn texture is falling before using the spray-on texture.
It works fine. After it drys, you may need to re-paint the whole ceiling to hide it, if it's been a while since it was painted.
Good Luck!

Thanks OldGuy! (although I don't like calling you an "old guy")

Some days there ARE advantages.
A young cashier at a restaurant just the other day for the first time asked me if I wanted a senior citizen discount with our order.
My wife heard "senior citizen?" without our asking.
I heard "discount" and said absolutely. LOL
