Hello,
My question is regarding the seasoning of wood for a woodstove...Does anyone have information about beach wood(driftwood) and if it possible to season this type of wood as to make it safe to burn in a wood stove? I have gathered information about the effects of the salt and the potential damage that it could cause BUT it is easily accessible in my area and I sure would like to make use of it... Thanks in advance to all that respond

My best guess would be big-time corrosion problems. We heated our previous residence in NC with a wood insert and no matter how well seasoned the wood, there was still some moisture in it. When wood that's been salt water soaked is burned, I'm guessing there's going to be some salt deposited in both the stove inself and also up the flue. Probably good for bonfires on the beach, but I don't think I would be inclined to burn it in a stove.

My $.02 worth.
