Walls and Ceilings - Knockdown finish

I don't know if this is the right forum to use and i amsorry if it isn't but I was not sure where to post this request.

Could anyone PLEASE.. Give me a quick virtual lesson on how to do knock down to my newly hung drywall.

Also anything I should look for or know before I start and while I am doing it..

First tape and finish the drywall as if it were going to be a smooth finish and sand.
Then spray the walls and ceiling with a finish made for this type of application. Before it is dry use a trowel or your taping knife to flatten some of the high spots left in the texture. That is all there is to it.
If you get a good job finishing the knock down will look good. Some finishers advocate priming the surfaces before you spray. For your first time at it this might be a good idea. It evens out the suction between the taped joints and the field of the drywall.

So do you mean finish the entire wall using kilz2? also is there a certain amount of time I should wait between spraying and trouling? Like to let it dry a little?

Oh yea I also wanted to ask if there are different types of tips for the sprayer. If so what determines the type I should use?

Oh and I jsut thought of another question... Is there a distance I should make sure to stand away from the wall?

DONT use kilz!!! If you are going to prime prior to texture use flat laytex paint. How are you spraying your knockdown?

I was planing on renting the sprayer from Home Depot..

There are different tips that come with the sprayer. small, medium and large. You probably want to use the medium. Also rent a 1/2 inch drill and mixing paddle if you don't own one. Mix your mud very thin. You will know if its too thick cause it wont spray. Spray a consistant, even coat over the entire surface. Wait about fifteen minutes(give or take with humidity and temp). Then drag your knife over the surface at a 25 degree angle with light pressure. Go across all tape joints. If you go with the joint you are likely to get a big long flat spot so drag across them. Thats about it. Let it dry and paint.

And to answer your final question...keep back about 18 to 24 inces away from surface.
