I need to drain the hot water boiler system to move a radiator. I have the hose conected to the faucet at the furnace and am opening the bleeder valve for air on the 2nd floor. No matter what radiator bleeder valve I use on the 2nd floor, water comes out and air does not enter. I can't get the system to drain. Ideas?

You need to be sure incoming water is turned off first. Then you should be sure zone valves (if you have them) are opened manually. Then make sure the drain valve really works. Try it with a bucket under it or just run a little water out of it. That drain valve is one of the least used valves in the system and it is not unusual for them not to work right. When they do open, most times they leak when they are closed. It is not a bad idea to plan on replacing it while the system is drained.
