Hello all,

I am going to be replacing the panelling in my basement with drywall. I'm not planning on replacing the ceiling though. How should I handle the joint between the upper run of wallboard and the ceiling. The ceiling is textured plaster over drywall.

Thanks!

2 ways. first is to tape the angle like normal and match the texture. second is to not angle tape but flat tape up to the ceiling and caulk the crack.

Hi Pete.

Welcome to the forums. As far as taping the joint, coops has you covered.

But as another option to avoid having to try & match your existing ceiling texture, might want to consider some crown molding, this would cover up the crack between the new wall & the existing ceiling. If you decide to go with this, you should caulk the crack though prior to installing the molding.

Good luck.
