Guess what guys. I found an old roll of paper sheetrock tape. Must be 30 years old.
I tried a little of it and guess what. It does not work any better now then it did 30 years ago. That is why they invented cloth tape, and is also why I never have any bubbles in my tape.

And since there is a small amount of adhesive on this stuff, you save an entire step in the taping process. It sticks by itself. It is open mesh so no bubbles.

the only thing mesh tape is good for is wraping christmas presents. I have been doing drywall for 20 years and i know from experience that eventually somewhere down the line it will crack out if you get the proper amount of mud behind the (paper)tape it will last and not bubble or crack out

If I were a full-time taper and finisher I would have to agree with you 100% about paper tape. I'd be using a banjo and paper.
But, this is a do it yourself site, and mesh works much easier for the part-time or weekend taper/finisher.

I was reading you guys posts regarding paper tape last week and was beginning to wonder about you.I thought surely they aren't taping entire new homes with fiberglass tape.As was said earlier,it won't go in my banjo.
