I am replacing a few studs that have been damaged by termites. The wall is an interior wall, which was previously an outside wall. (It seems to be a garage that was converted to a den.) Between the framing and bricks, there is (was) a compressed paper sheeting. The termites love it, and most is gone. Do I need to replace it? What with? I don't want to use compressed paper again. I don't really want to give easy food to the little critters.

You don't need to replace a vapor barrier in what is now an interior wall.
