i have to replace approx. 3-4 studs in a load bearing wall due to termites. my question is:
do i have to remove the damaged wood(has been
treated by exterminator)or can i leave it there and just add more studs?any suggestions would be appreciated

Your choice. If you are certain that the old studs have no termites or moisture, you can leave them if you like. Most would remove them. Me, I would just add new studs, wrap it up and forget it, as long as it is structurally sound. Good Luck!

It is best to remove the studs. Even if your little pests are gone, they have left an oder in the old wood, which will attract new pests. Termites locate by smell.

Remove the old studs, for exactly the reasons that Jack said. Besides, just because you can see them anymore, are you SURE that ALL of the termites are gone?
