We need to get a 4" hole in our plaster wall for a new dryer vent. Someone has suggested a hole saw, and another handyman said we'd be crazy to use a hole saw. The exterior wall is stucco, and we have concerns about using the hole saw there as well. Is a reciprocating saw a better bet for a clean hole?

Draw out your 4" circle first. Use a small (3/16th's to 1/4") masonary drill bit and drill lots of holes, very close together, around the circle. Then carefully remove the center. Do the same on the outside. Use trim and the outside dryer vent to cover the rough edges.
