I have a 96' Yamaha 40HP 2 stroke outboard. The problem is this: I start the motor it idles fine, but as soon as I start to got to throttle it up, it starts to cut out really bad. At first I thought it was the plugs so I change them out. Problem still there. So I checked the gas and found some water so I drained tank, and filters and refilled with new gas. Problem STILL there. I checked all the hoses on the engine, they are all good and tight. It runs fine at idle and a little above idle other than that.....like crap and chugs and sputters and dies, but it has no problem starting back up and idling. Any Ideas? Please help, it is in the middle of fishing season here in Alaska and I am missing out.
