I need to replace a few studs, and the headers and footers. New 2x4s are slightly smaller than the old ones. How can I mix the new ones with the older ones? I would appreciate any advise.

Is this an open (see-thru) wall or one side open? If one side flush the new stud to the plate on your side.
If open wall, depending on how much difference there is you amy need to rebuild the entire thing.
