OK - this will be the last time I agree to this. Some guys came around the neighborhood offering to patch and seal driveways for discount rates. A lot of folks seemed to take them up on it - but I really didn't want to spend the money. Our driveway needed work 10 years ago when we moved in and has only gotten worse. It really needs an complete overhaul.
It was the end of the day and the guy kept coming back and dropping the price (said the asphalt was going to dry in his truck anyway), so I finally agreed.
When he was done - the driveway at least looked a little better, but he warned me that he flooded it with seal and it wasn't going to dry it just a day or two - probably several days. Well that was 8 days ago.
When the sun beats down it's worse (duh - that's why I guess people do this in the fall). There's some small puddles and quite a few non-puddled areas that just get soft just because it's a thick coat. We've been trying to stay off of it but every so often you want to test it out. Ugh! What a mess.
Is there anyway I can get this to dry? Will the small puddled areas need to be spread out? How do you do that? Could they have been using bad sealer? It's rained twice since they coated (about 3 and 5 days after).
Any advice?

Hi,
You can be sure, we are not laughing, :( we will try to help!
Just two questions:
- Can you tell us the temperature at the moment of the application?
- Was the driveway dirty at that moment?
- What happened with your neighbor’s driveway?
Regards,

They cleaned the driveway with blowers and such. I think they at least did that OK.
It wasn't an overly hot or humid day. Maybe around low 80's still in the late afternoon. Average humidity for New Jersey.
From what I can tell, the neighbors were all dry within a day or so (though I didn't talk to anybody about surprise spots). From a look around - it seems they got a lighter coat. Most of the other driveways weren't that bad as far as cracks or dips. I thought the guy was doing me a favor by laying on thick, now I don't know.
Thanks in advance.

HI,
This is very odd and I guess the problem is with the thickness of the coating. If they cleaned the driveway and your neighbor’s driveways are dry, the problem isn't in the product or application.
I guess that any chemical solution you can apply now will complicate the situation, so my best advice is....wait. It will dry.
Good luck!
