When installing plastic baseboards, do you use nails like in wood or adhesive?

Neither, I use my brad nailer. Without that, my next choice is to nail it, if I can find a filler that matches the molding for the nail holes. If neither of those are an option, I use adhesive.

Do you mean plastic as in vinyl/rubber or synthetic made to look like wood?

Didn't think about the vinyl cove baseboard. If that's what you are installing, then you have to do it with an adhesive. It comes in two styles -- one with the adhesive already on it, the other that requires that you apply your own adhesive.
quote:
Originally posted by More than a Carpenter:

Lefty - I've seen numerous times where aluminum trim coil nails were used to apply vinyl baseboard!

Armstrong probably cringes when they hear that.
