I live in Wisconsin and have a brick house on a poured cement basement. Where the brick sits on the foundation is where the finished grade should be. The cement work (driveway, sidewalk to the front door, and the patio), are at a level that cover two rows of brick. To complete the finish grade and/or landscaping around the house, level with the finished cement work, two rows of brick are cover up with dirt or landscapineg stone. Is this an exceptable practice, or am I looking for water problems with my brick. Problems such as spalding, cracked, and discolored brick.
