I will be excavating this weekend for my soon to be brick walkway. The walk will have a "S" shape to it. I live on Long Island and plan to use recycled concrete (RCA) as the base-4 inches with an inch of fine sand on top and finally the Holland pavers. I will be levelling these pavers to an adjoining driveway. How much do these pavers tend to sink when properly tamped down into the sand base? Would a pitch of 1/8" per foot be enough to shed water? This pitch should be done during initial excavation correct? Any methods to make a smooth S would be most appreciated. Thanks.
