We recently added an addition to our home and some of the space adds to the existing living room, the new/old floors did not exactly match up so we installed new plywood on both sides to level it. We originally were going to install 3/4 Maple planks (Probably 3 ") in the space, now with the floor being raised up after leveling we do not want it to be that high. Has anyone used or installed products from Mirage like the 3/8 Maple planks that they offer? Just trying to figure out the best alternative at this point.

Thanks in advance,
Mike.

Mirage is an excellent choice. We install it on a regular basis. Excellent milling, same wear layer as a 3/4 in hardwood, easy to install, pre finished no mess as with a site finished floor. Can be installed over radiant floor heat. I can't say enough good about it.

Phil,

Thanks for the quick response, I looked at the Mirage product in a local hardwoord floor showroom and it seemed very well made.

One more quick question, we removed a fireplace during the house addition and even with the new subfloor over the old in that spot there is a slight dip and high spot that is resident. Can a levelling compound now be used over the top of the new subfloor before the hardwood is put down? Sorry for all the questions but I am new to this and want the floor to last as long as possible. The area I am talking about that is uneven consists on 3/4 T & G old flooring with new 1/4 " plywood over the top glued and screwed down, it is extremely sturdy but considering the top layer is not very thick I think sanding it will be a hassle.

Thanks again,
Mike.
