I am refinishing my kitchen wood floor(which will be a learning experence for me so any general info welcome). I would like to have a checker board look with two different stains, a more "normal" stain and a "custom color" orange stain. My main concern is how to do this. I was thinking of staining the floor the regular stain then taping off squares and doing the darker orange, but will a stain take over another stain or does it have to be freshly sanded wood? How in general can I achieve this look? Not even sure I'm on the right track. I am worried that I wont get a straight edge with tape. So please let me know how you would go about doing this. Thank you very much for any help!
