I'm painting the house I rent. The asbestos siding just needs to be washed, but the trim is a mess. I have removed some of the trim paint, which is literally shedding, and it seems that if there was one coat of paint applied in it's 50 year life, that's a miracle. I can spray some of the paint off with a regular garden hose, but wonder what the easiest, quickest way to remove it would be? I have tried scrapers and wire brushes because the garden hose left the paint hanging in shreds (see above) I don't want to spend too much time on this as I am not being reimbursed enough and I offered to buy the paint too! There's one born every minute!!!!!!!!

A pressure washer will get almost all of it off. Spray some solution of bleach 25% in water with some tide in it on the surface, let it sit for a few minutes, the wash off with the pressure washer. The pressure washer will remove almost all of the marginal paint. Whatever is left will probably stay. Once dry, caulk, prime bare wood, and paint.
Remember that bleach is caustic. Wear suitable protective clothing and eyewear. Rinse it thoroughly from all surfaces.
Hope this helps.

Try an electric scraper...they work.
