We have a Kitchen Aid dryer. The problem is that the at times the motor kicks out on overload when starting. I believe the starting windings are bad or the starting switch is bad. Could use help to diagnois. The starting switch does slide when motor comes to speed but I am not sure what terminals to verify that the micro switch is operating properly. Also need to verify if start windings are ok.
Thanks,
Jim

Hello jrickle. Welcome to my Gas Appliances forum and our Do-It-Yourself Web Site.
First itme is to remove the wall plug form the power source.
Open the cabinet and note how and where every part is as you remove the front door panel, etc.
Make a physical hand drawing of how the belt loops over and around every pulley. Remove the entire motor and take it to any local electrical motor repair shop for testing and repairs or replacement if needed.
Not sure what micro switch you're referring to but if it's the one on the belt pulley rod, that switch has to be working or the entire system would not operate. Skip that for now.
If you prefer dealers for parts etc, they can also help determine what the possible problem may be also. They will need the make, model and serial numbers.
Appliance parts dealers are an excellent source for original replacement parts. Dealers are listed in the phone book under appliances.
If you need further assistance, use the REPLY button to add any additional information or ask additional questions. Doing so will automatically keep your question at the top of the forum list.
