Hi! been lurking for a while...finally registered.
been trying to find the right paint for our home. I'm being picky about the colors. I've looked at Behr, Glidden, but finally found the perfect colors when i went to lowes. it's this brand called PPG Architectural Finishes, Inc. I've never heard of them and wanted to get some feedback.
what is the best interior paint brand that doesn't cost too much and how good/bad is this PPG?
thanks so much!

In general, PPG has a good reputation. Moreso, cheap materials generally give cheap results. The cost of painting is the labor, yours or someone else's, not the materials. I would expect to pay $20 -30 a gallon for top quality paint. (Promotional rebates nothwithstanding)
Others will chime later. The brands that come to mind as having good reputations are Benjamin Moore, Sherwin Williams, PPG. Many have used other brands of paint and have been completely satisfied.
The key to successful painting is preparation: clean, mechanically sound surfaces; priming as needed; and good paint on top. Good tools and equipment make a lot of difference as well. The good stuff performs better, more satisfactorily, and lasts longer than the cheap stuff.
Hope this helps.

thank you very much!
Last year, the job captain at our "Rebuilding Together" (formerly christmas in april) project said something like "don't ever buy the cheap paint if you can help it" We were working on a men's youth center and the paint we had was cheap paint. when we go over a second coat, paint was actually comming off the wall instead of adding to it.
Now that i actually need to paint, i just didn't know what "cheap" meant. thanks so much again!
