Life is complicated and installing this laminate floor is almost imitating life. :)

Here is the latest situation.

The floor in the second bedroom is not as low as the floor in the first bedroom.
If I use the 2in1 underlayment, the laminate floor will be even with the ceramic floor in the hallway and I can use a t-moulding.
If I use the Quiet Walk underlayment, the laminate floor will be about 1/8 inch taller than the ceramic floor in the hallway. There should be a transition piece available, I hope.
:)

At this point, I have a choice of underlayment to use.

If you have used the 2in1 or Quiet Walk or both of these underlayments, can you give me your opinion on it?
I realize that unless you are in installer, you will probably only used one type but I still value your opinion.

Thanks for you help.

I am a fairly new DIYer and recently installed a floating (engineered) wood floor in the LR/DR. I used Quiet Walk to avoid a possible noisy floor problem. I thought QW was the same thickness as other underlayments (1/8 inch). I have been happy with the results, but have no way of knowing what the results would have been like if I had selected a different product.

Good luck with your project. I think they make transition strips for every type of situation. My new wood floor ended at the kitchen which has a lower vinyl floor (at least for now!) and I found a wooden transition strip which fits nicely.

For kitchens, entrees , utility rooms I prefer to use the quiet walk. for bedrooms and halls etc i use 2 in 1.

I would use the 2 in 1 because it meets your needs. I have used both on many occassions and they are both a good product is one better than the other. They are both used in diffent applications every day.
