I have located metal bunk bed that is currently red. The seller only wants $35 for it.

I really don't like metal for a bed, but for $35, why not...

It is a twin bed on top and full size on the bottom.

My son's room has an army theme, and I would like to 'distress' the metal and paint it either in camoflage or olive drab.

Does anyone have any suggestions with:\

Type of paint (brand or spray)
How to 'prep' the metal
How to distress the metal

You might distress the metal with a hammer. I guess that beaten up is what distressed would look like for metal.

If the bed is not rusted, wash the bed with TSP or spic and span. Prime and paint. I would use a good primer such as Zinsser 123, tinted toward whatever basic color you want to use. It seems to me that trying to do camo would be easier with spray cans, but I have never done camo.

Hope this helps.

I was thinking either camo or just a olive drab.

If I camo it, I won't distress it.

If I paint it olive drab, I will distress it.

I will probably use spray paint either way.

Thanks.
