Hi,
I am in a basement apartment and wanted to wallpaper the living room.
It's all drywalled and painted, and i have a border on there now.
Every once in a while though i do have to reglue parts of the border that have come away from the wall.
I do have a humidifier down there running, so it's not damp at all but this is a basement so i am sure it's a bit more damp than the upper level.
But i don't want to take the chance of wallpapering the whole area and have it not adhere properly.
Is there a special kind of wallpaper glue that i can buy that's specifically for basements? Or any hints or tips on wallpapering basements?
Silly question maybe, but i thought i would give it a shot. ;)
Any information would be greatly appreciated!
txs,
Wendy

If it is just the border you are talking about, you need to use a border adhesive. Regular wallpaper adhesive just doesn't cut the mustard with the thicker borders. Get some border adhesive or use the specialty Vinyl over Vinyl adhesives in the wallpaper section of your favorite store.
There will be no special precautions when wallpaper a basement, just use good preparation techniques. You can find my recommendations on this link (http://www.wallpaperinstaller.com/wallpaper_preparation.html). If you have any more questions, please post them.
