Hello: I have two Goodman heatpump CPKJ48 units for two floors of the house. One of them is very noisy when the outdoor fan runs. The other one is 20dB quieter under same conditions. Is it a good idea to apply any silicone based lubricant to the fan/motor of the noisier unit?

Also, cleaning the outdoor AC unit using water hose... What are the precations I need to take to clean AC fins? I will be turning off the power at the breaker for the AC units when I do that.

Thanx

Power off for sure, then dont blast the AC unit with the water let it run or spray it. You can bend the fins on the unit if you blast it with water. Now some motors have like little yellow plugs in the end bells. This is for the oil and some dont have any. If you can oil the motors use just a #10 motor oil, no wd 40 or no 3 in 1 oil.
On the fans noise it could be just one of its fan blades is bent a little up or down out of line. It hit a bug there in the unit lots of things can make it sound different. When your done bug spray around the outdoor unit some . Bugs like to get up in the relays there some times;) ED
