Ive been let down by countless builders on fitting a matntle and fireplaces in three rooms in my house.One of the rooms the mantle would go down of wooden supports.

Can anybody help me with either a good book or advice to do it myself or the contact details of a RELIABLE builder in the south east wales area.

I am sorry to say the Michigan is along way from Wales! I would suggest doing a web search and then go to the library. It may be possible to get something that would help you in your endeavor.
