Just a general question....

The inside pane of glass on our oven door recently cracked. Is there any urgency to replacing it?

I assume that maybe some of the heat may leak out through the crack but will this damage anything else? Is it something that needs to be replaced right away or can I hold onto the cash for a while?

Thanks.

Hello A Lynch. Welcome to my gas appliances forum.

You can hang onto your cash for a while...:)

When you want to replace the inside glass pane, remove the door and take it to the local appliance parts store.

Bring the make, model and serial numbers. Also replace the door gaskets if need be, since your already working on the oven.

The glass is specially made heat tempered glass. Which means it is most likely not available in most glass shops.

Door removal may either be a lift up and off the hinge type or the type with latches that must first be lifted up. The latch type will be very noticeable inside the door.

If you need to replace door hindges, etc. a web site link is below. The site may also have views of the door panels, glass, etc.

Excellent question by the way. One not asked in years. Sooner or later the question was bound to be asked again. Thanks for asking.
