Team,
Our central AC unit "ate" a filter we put in some-time-back...basically sucked it down to the bottom of the return duct. We didn't discover it for about two weeks, which probably led to this problem.
It sounds like we have some debris in the blower...I can hear it making a ticking noise when the blower runs....like something is touching the blower-fan as it turns.
My question is, how difficult is it to remove the blower fan to clean it out? Should I just try compressed air and hope that gets whatever is in there out? The unit is a Lennox Elite high-efficiency unit. I have access to the blower area through front, where the blinking green light is. Thanks in advance.

William.

That whole blower should come out there in the front.just some screws there in the top of it. I would pull it and clean it out. Dont use the air on it in the furnace. You could look at the AC coil on top and see if it has any of this filter on it.Sounds like you dont change your filter as many time as you should.;) ED

Hey Ed,

I blush to say this, but I went with some flimsy filters from a hardware store and ended up regretting it. Nearly all of them ended up in the trash. :)

Thanks for the tip on the blower, that makes me feel a little better about taking the blower out for cleaning. It hit 100+ degrees here today, though, so I may have to wait a little while to do it. ;) Thanks again.

William.
