Three days ago I noticed a large puddle of water around my furnace. It's really hot here now and the a.c. unit is running more. I'm sure it's condensation but why isn't it collecting and running down the tube? The unit seems to be running fine and cooling.

First ----filter , and coil clean, no ice. Then if you can blow back through the condensate pipe it can just be pluged up. Check out the drain pan and see if you have any build up of uck in it.;) ED

What if you have no clue where the drain pan is? I have a whole bunch of water. Our AC unit is outside and the blower from our furnace forces the air into the house. We have a bunch water coming from the bottom of our furnace. Can someone help?

gsierra:

The drain pan is immediately under the evaperator coil and is where the refrigerant lines enter the ductwork.
There should be a hose connected to the pan.
Sometimes the ductwork has to be opened up to be able to clean the pan and coil.

Should do something soon as your furnace can be ruined.

I found the pan which has some water in it. It is located about 5 feet above the floor on the side of the furnace. I do not think the problem is there. the water seems to be coming from the bottom. All the drain pipes run on the outside and down the side. Should I run the unit with the coils exposed to see what happens?

I'm not sure what you mean by exposed.

If you have removed a cover and have the evaperator coil exposed you cannot run it like that. You must have all covers in place.
If it is all open you should be able to see where the water is coming from.
You can check to see if there is any dirt in the pan and if you want to go further you can open the side of the A coil, if that is what you have, and see if the coil is dirty.

I also have A LOT of water coming out of the bottom of our Heat Pump/Centra Air Unit. We can see the water down in the bottom of the unit. I keep feeling around and don't seem to be able to find where it is coming from. It also happened last year when there was high humidity and really hot, but not this severe.

The unit is by American Standard/Trane, BAY96X1410,

We do have the unit serviced, but this year we did not. I have never seen the A/C tech remove a pan etc.... I regularly clean the filter and did it about 2 weeks prior to all this water coming out.

Please help.

We now have three people posting three problems in the same thread.
As the original poster has had his question answered I will close this thread.
Please start a new thread to have our problem answered.
