Sorry this isn't totally an electrical question, but I figured electricians may have tricks on how to drill in close quarters. I need to drill a 1/8" diameter vertical hole in a bookshelf behind the vertical molding on a bookcase in order to run some electrical (low voltage) wiring from the open bookshelf on top into the cabinet that is below the bookcase. Since the overlap of the molding is only 1/2", i want to get the hole as close to the corner made up of the vertical molding and the side of the bookshelf. Is there any type of attachment or trick for drilling in such a close space as this? The chuck of the drill seems to be too big, and I'm afraid it will scrape the inside of the side wall of the bookcase. Thanks.

There is a right angle drill chuck. I don't know how large it is. There are flexible cable bell hanger bits that you can guide by hand.

Hope this helps.

you could always get a longer bit? or tape the drill and cabinet(or something) to protect it? maybe even a dremel tool?
