I have narrowed my choice of exterior paint down to
Sears Weatherbeater Satin (sale @ $9.99 gallon, Acrylic Latex)
or
Sears Weatherbeater Ultra Satin (sale @ $19.99 gallon, Polyurethane Acrylic).
What is the real difference between these paints and is twice the price worth buying the Ultra?
I just got done finishing a two coat paint job on my mothers home and it looks and covers great with the cheaper of the two. Any help would be appreciated. THANKS!!!

The Weatherbeater satin says that it can go over vinyl and aluminum siding. Is it really possible to use this on my vinyl siding? If so, any tips?
TIA - Jamie

You can paint vinyl siding so long as you don't paint it a color darker than it was orginally. Otherwise the paint will fail due to heating differently than the underlying material. Check out some vinyl siding and fencing sites for further information on this.

Here is what a paint company says:

Hope this helps.

Chris,
Thanks for the site info. Can I hedge any on the color? My siding is stark white and I would like to go a few shades darker. Do you know if this would be ok?

I can't say how close is close enough. You are on your own with that one.
