I'm about to repaint my bathroom and I wanted to know what I needed to do before I actually start painting. I was told I needed to sand the old paint off before I can repaint. Is this true? Is there another way? It just seems very time consuming to have to sand all the old paint off. Any advice would be great.

If the old paint is mechanically sound, that is, not flaking, peeling, bubbling and such, then you can clean the surfaces thoroughly with something such as spic and span. Prime with a good quality primer sealer such as Zinsser 123 and paint. Ordinarily, one uses semi-gloss in bathrooms because it is up to being cleaned frequently and resists water spatters.

Hope this helps.
