i pulled the keeper ring on the shower valve,,, but how do i get the valve out so i can replace the washer on the valve,,, so i can stop the drippind

There should be a hexagonal part on the valve itself. If you can't reach it with a crescent wrench, get a set of plumber's valve sockets and find the one that fits, slip it over the valve and remove it counter-clockwise. Check the valve seat for corrosion while you have the valve out, and replace it if necessary, also (it too will need a special valve seat tool to remove). Good Luck!
