Which tub is better fiberglass or metal coated with enamel? I have heard that enamel tubs chip easily.

I can't say I know much about fiberglass bathtubs, but I do know that steel tubs with a baked on enamel finish will last you 40 or 50 years and better. I believe a baked on enamel finish is harder than fiberglass and steel is stronger than fiberglass, and in the long run these two characteristics will make the baked enamel finish a better choice.
