I have a 8 foot column that I want to install in my livingroom that has 8 ft ceilings, actually 7'11 because of the hardwood floors. Any sugestions on how to do this?

Essentially, you stand it up and put it together. Positon it and attach it to the floor, then shim to the ceiling, add trim.
