We are purchasing an older (albeit WELL BUILT)brick house built in the 60's. The bathrooms are very outdated in the colors of the tiles. Since they are in excellent condition, we hate to tear them all out. Do you recommend the painting process for this project? I wonder how well this paint will hold up in the shower area? Any research on this? Thanx for your help, look forward to your reply Judi W.

Judi:
You can paint ceramic wall tiles, and I know people have done it, but I don't know how well they liked the results. To do this, use Zinsser's sticky primers, either BIN or Bullseye 123, then paint over that with a marine paint (for boat hulls) or a swimming pool paint.
If I were you, I would cover the ceramic tiling with a tub surround. You can get some pretty attractive ones now. Also, I know a guy who installed a tub surround, decided it looked to bland, and siliconed Ceramalite panels to it on the front, back and side, and it looks pretty sharp now.
