In a case like this, both chfite and I need the Latin name for this plant. To give an example, I could ask for a Paradise apple in both FLA & NY. I just might get what the locals call a Paradise apple in both states, yet the plants may not even be in the same Family.
A very long time ago, we decided to use Latin names to name plants. This way if I ask for a Sanguinaria canadensis, I know I will always get a Blood Root plant.
Can you try & find the Latin name for us?

Common Apple, Wild Apple, European Apple
Hey, if you have a Paradise Apple you have a Jonny Appleseed Tree. This tree has been around since ancient times. Improvements have been made since then with hybrdizing. species.
Jonathan Chapman (1774-1845), Jonny Appleseed distributed these seeds. He collected seeds from cider presses and established orchards from Pennsylvania to Illinois. Johnny was one of my childhood heroes.
As indicated, unless we have a Latin name or greater description of the plant we are helpless to provide you with addtional info.

You know the thing I still don't understand, is as pretty as this trees flowers are.

Nowhere did geen say, Tree, fruit etc. :confused: without more of a description, it could be anything.

I agree, marturo. My first thoughts when I read the post were Savior's Cross Ball which I have heard called lots of things when I was a kid. I guess it is due to the religious connections that there are so many common names. Without further description of the plant, we don't know with what we are dealing here. As much as I hated memorizing Latin names in Botany and Zoology, they sure save you a lot of trouble when it comes to identification.
I love to roam greenhouses and read the labels stuck in the pots. I chuckle because I know that the names of the plants are not what I was taught. I have been out of the world of gardening for so long and live in an area where there is no green house that much of my memory is lost. Without our Latin names, we are in trouble.
My mother would call a plant by one name and I another and she would tell me I was crazy. Snow on the Mountain was our biggest argument.
