Two areas of concern:

1) Ventilating the bathroom. The adjacent exterior wall isn't an option (existing plumbing for the upstairs bath is in the way). The next nearest exterior wall is about about 15 feet to the south, through a joist space. Should I use rigid ductwork or flexible? When I get to the rim joist, how do I get through that without compromising strength?

2) I plan on using sheet vinyl for the floor (a concrete slab that's reasonably smooth). Do I need underlayment? If so, what kind?

Thanks in advance....
