Building a deck essentially 60x14 feet in total. One section will be 35x14 and the other 25X10. 60 feet is the length of the house. The outside of the deck is one straight 60 foot line if you can visualize it.

Using 2X10 ledgers and joist in part and 2x8 joists in the smaller span. The wood came to me cheap so that is the reason for the different joist sizes. Also using 2x4 for decking.

My land is relatively flat but I probably have just enough drop in my lawn to have a 2x8 supporting beam (not sure on the exact term) along the outside edge under joists. Approx 10-12 feet from ledger

Questions:

1) Older home has pretty solid 6x6 or bigger beams on top of foundation. What is the best way to attach 2x10 ledger to this? Can I use 6" nail spikes or do I need to use lag bolts.

2) What should the minimum joist widths be 12" or 16" with 2x4 decking?

3) What are footing requirements? Depth 36 inches?? How many over 60 feet is enough?

4) How far out should I build my supporting beam be from the house?

5) How far can my 2x10 or 2x8 span without support?

6) If I attach my ledger to the house, any considerations for water or drainage?

Sorry for all the questions. Tks in advance.
